A take on destination posters from the 1950’s, this artwork illustrates the dichotomy between the calm, quaint and beautiful environment of the island of Sriharikota and ISROs hugely powerful rockets which take off from there. Sriharikota is one of two of ISROs launch sites in India. It is  home to the SDSC (Satish Dhawan Space Centre) formerly SHAR. Every noteworthy mission you can think of like Chandrayaan 3, Mangalyaan and the future Gaganyaan mission has and will lift off from Sriharikota. Worth a visit in our books!

Artist’s Note: Adip Mehta:
I’ve been mulling over the prospect of illustrating a poster based on Sriharikota for a while now. The dilemma was finding the balance between the real and the surreal. Making it too real would have been a bit industrial and too surreal would have made it a bit whimsical. I believe this direction strikes that balance and who doesn’t love a rocket taking off heroically with a twilight sky. Like most great ideas, this one came to me while I was brushing my teeth.
